Why does billing history show "Requires action" or "Requires payment method"?

These Stripe statuses mean your payment needs authentication (3DS) or a new valid payment method.

Status meanings

Requires Action: complete 3D Secure or bank authentication. Requires Payment Method: card failed or missing — update payment method.

Resolve

Billing >>> row status >>> complete auth

Prerequisites: Incomplete payment row.

Step 1. Requires Action

  • Often 3DS redirect during checkout or renewal.

  • Complete authentication in bank app.

Step 2. Requires Payment Method

  • Card declined or expired.

  • Contact support — in-app card update limited.

Key points to consider

  • Differs from Paid or Processing — payment not finalized.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming charge succeeded when status is not Paid.
