Why did my renewal payment fail?

Renewal payments fail when Stripe cannot charge your default payment method — card expired, insufficient funds, or bank decline.

Renewal failures

invoice.payment_failed handler updates subscription. Billing shows Requires Payment Method. Status may become PAST_DUE.

Troubleshoot

Billing >>> status >>> bank

Prerequisites: Failed RENEWAL row in history.

Step 1. Check Billing History

  • Find RENEWAL with failed status.

  • Note Requires Action for 3DS.

Step 2. Fix card

  • Contact bank.

  • Contact Support to attach new payment method — VERIFY IN APP self-serve update.

Key points to consider

  • Grace period 7 days in Plan entity — VERIFY IN APP user-facing behavior.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Ignoring email from bank — may need to approve recurring charge.

Check decline reason with your bank; contact TourEstateAI support with invoice ID.
