Should You Charge for Post-Delivery Edit Requests From Real Estate Agents?

Business strategy

Delivery is done. Then: any better angles, fix the deck, wrong blue on the yoga mats, open-and-closed pantry, winter-to-summer swaps. Frustration is real. So is the chance to invoice work you already framed.

Many pros treat these asks as add-on sales—not insults. Quote a clear per-photo or generative fee. Questions often stop when money appears. Packages stay standard; extras stay profitable.

Turn nitpicks into line items

Sample reply pattern: you cull on site and deliver the best set; additional retouch is available at a stated rate per photo, turnaround next day. Deck cleanup at twenty-five dollars a frame—or whatever fits your market—filters agents who will not spend on a beat-down feature.

AI and heavy changes

Generative “new deck” or major object work is not standard editing. Charge a premium—field examples land around seventy-five dollars for AI image generation—or decline. Small paid polish for twenty minutes can clear a hundred dollars; that math only works when you price it.

When it is a reshoot, not an edit

If they never mentioned key angles while busy with homeowners—or demand rooms you were never briefed on—reshoot fees apply. Walking the assistant through required frames on a return visit protects you from endless change-to-the-changes without a budget.

Color and seller telephone

Some agents always love the files; “clients” always complain—often the same complaints. Periwinkle-versus-cobalt notes are annoying but billable fixes. Pattern-spot agents who launder seller anxiety through your inbox and price the revisions accordingly.

Quick reference

• Post-delivery cleanup = quote, do not gift.

• Per-photo fees end most casual “any other…?” asks.

• AI / invent-condition edits need premium pricing or a no.

• Unbriefed angles → reshoot fee, not free return.

• Seller-driven color nitpicks are still paid edits.

• Expertise after delivery can raise package profit.

You are not there to mind-read after the fact—but you can sell the fix. Publish rates, quote fast, and let agents choose between reality, omission, or a paid enhancement.
